When God gave Joseph his dream he showed him the end of what it would be, not the path he would have to travel to get there (Genesis 37:5-10). In his visions of the night there was no separation from his father, abuse by his brothers (Genesis 37:11-36). Neither was there bondage, accusations, (Genesis 39:1-23) imprisonment nor being forgotten by those he had helped (Genesis 40:1-23) . However every detail of his journey was necessary to prepare him for his end. Likewise every step in your journey has been ordained, every step is necessary as a child of God (Psalm 37:23). His plans are to prosper you (Jeremiah 29:11). First you must go through the trouble, first you must be battered, rejected, abandoned until there is nothing left but that sweet spirit radiating from the depths within you. Then and only then will you be ready to walk in your calling.
Look to the future to see who you must be to command that which God has ordained that you must, and flinch not under the preparation. Know that the greater the vision for your future the greater the preparation for the task.
